My Students
I wish everyone reading this could come and visit my 5th grade classroom. My students LOVE learning! They are eager to learn and share information. While some students have no problem sitting still in their desks, others cannot. They need to move around.
My students are full of life with a yearning to learn.
Each student is unique and different. Some have no problem sitting still through an entire lesson, but others get the urge to move. Most people may think that it is not a big deal to sit still for a class period. However, for some students, all they can think about is moving. They may even make excuses to get up and walk around. I want to provide non-disruptive ways to fill this need.
My Project
My students need resistance bands and balance cushions for their desks. The bands will be tied around the legs of the desks. The students can put their feet on them. They can bounce, stretch, or even just rest their legs. The balance cushions are placed on their seats. It is hard on a students body to sit in a hard chair all day. This will take away some of the pressure put on their bodies. The cushions are also rounded so they can quietly rock back and forth. The fidget pencil toppers are for those who are always chewing on something they should not have in their mouths.
These items will give the students a quiet way to get their fidgets out and allow them to move without losing focus on the lesson they are learning.
