Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over seventy-seven percent of our students receiving free lunch. Our students speak a multitude of languages. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are also diverse in their academics as well.

My students are an enthusiastic, eager group of third-grade students who come from very diverse and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Our school is a Title One school. My students are excited about learning and want to do well. Our class includes gifted learners, English language learners and students with academic disabilities.

My Project

Meeting the diverse needs of my students has been challenging while distance learning. My students need assistance in learning to focus on their self-care.

Students need anxiety-relieving manipulatives to help them focus.

Activities that involve painting give students the opportunity to focus on a creative craft and take their eyes away from a screen for a while. Having little projects like rock and/or stepping stone painting to be able to pass out to my students helps to create excitement and curiosity. It is helpful to create and have complete individual projects with the paint pens and brushes to complete the project. Sending activities in the mail or having a social-distancing pick-up at school where students can pick up a fun activity is exciting. Giving students hands-on manipulatives helps students regulate and keep attention on their learning.
