Help me give my students a chance to strengthen their STEM skills by having a place to visually record their thoughts/work with the Post-It Sticky Easel Pad and master fractions with games and manipulatives.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing and in the process of learning TWO languages! As Dual Immersion Students they spend half of their day learning in English and the other half learning in Spanish. They brought me to tears when they sang "Happy Birthday" to me in Spanish because their dual language skills are phenomenal. They work hard and consistently go above a beyond. They inspire me to go above and beyond as their teacher.
My students are a great mixture of ethnic backgrounds, economic statuses, and proficiency levels.
The jump from third grade to fourth grade is gigantic, and they have made that jump with confidence, success, and a remarkable growth mindset. They are currently begging me for more fraction problems and more chances to practice their reading skills. They are a stellar group full of problem-solvers, future doctors, future leaders, future parents, future decision-makers, and I am beyond humbled to be their teacher.
My Project
My students are amazing learners and I want them to learn using their whole brains. As a class, we will focus on strengthening our math and engineering skills through manipulatives, games, and most importantly, experience. Students will work in small groups to play games with each other and explore peer-to-peer learning, then they will record their thoughts on a giant Post-It from the Post-It Easel so than frequently reference their learning.
With these manipulatives, all students will be given many opportunities to learn through this new, hands-on, learning style.
Each and every student deserves to be given chances to explore different learning styles, and I am excited to offer this style to my students. This project will give my students the chance to find the truth in this quote "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."
