This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my students’ curiosity, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning. Despite the challenges they face, they come to school eager to grow and explore new ideas. The majority of my students are reading below grade level, and I also have some reluctant readers who have not yet discovered the joy of reading. What inspires me most is their determination and the progress they make when given the right support and resources.

The literary magazines I am requesting will help address their specific needs by providing high-interest, contemporary stories with rich vocabulary across a variety of genres — including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and informational texts.

These materials will engage even my most reluctant readers and motivate them to practice and improve their reading skills. The magazines will offer content that is relevant to their lives and experiences, helping to build their comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking while encouraging meaningful discussions in class.

By adding these magazines to our classroom library, I will be able to provide my students with resources that support guided reading, independent reading, and collaborative learning. Most importantly, these materials will help foster a love of reading, increase their confidence, and support them on their journey to becoming stronger, more capable readers.
