Help me give my students access to a variety of manipulatives that allow for the development of fine motor and even engineering skills; Stem Bins provide everything needed for students to foster their imagination, create, and invent.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Creative, competitive, driven, and intelligent are just a few words to describe the students at my school. Our students come from various economic statuses and ethnic backgrounds, however, they are all here to learn.
As the school librarian at an academy for gifted and talented students, I see over 450 students every week that need to have their creativity cultivated.
They all come to school ready to learn and be successful.
Our school strives to create an environment conducive to all learning styles and a safe place for everyone. All staff believe in our students and know that they can do anything they set out to do.
My Project
Our district has an enormous emphasis on, not just STEM activity, but STREAM education! (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Math) This well-rounded mission allows for us, as teachers, to fully incorporate all subjects into fun engineering skill activities.
Stem Bins are an amazing resource that gives students access to hands-on fun, creativity, and imagination.
One way I envision using these bins, with all students on campus, is by bridging together literacy and engineering types of activities. Each bin has different materials like snap cubes, pattern blocks, pop-cycle sticks, etc (that can be used with the included task cards and teachers lessons), but in this case, each group will have to find a way to create a similar object or thing using their different manipulative. An example would be, reading the story of the Three Little Pigs. The students would then take their bins, come up with a plan on how they can use their given materials to build a house that would keep them safe from the big bad wolf! We could then even test their structures using a simple hair dryer and then allow for the students to revisit and revise depending on the outcome. The possibilities for integrating literacy and engineering are endless!
STEM BINS are 'ready to go' stem related activities. The comprehensive kit includes everything needed to immediately use the product. Plastic school boxes, task cards, teachers guide, black-line masters, a plethora of non-consumables and a variety of consumables that are affordable to replace when needed.
More than half of students from low‑income households
