This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My inner-city second graders have tons of playful energy! Too bad that the weather doesn't always match their desire for a great outdoor kickball game.
In the past few weeks a steady downpour has turned our playground into a rushing river and our classrooms into overcrowded, boisterous play zones. We have one game of Connect Four that the children love to play, but it's broken after years of good use and we're desperately in need of a few new sets.
Connect Four isn't just a mindless distraction - the children really develop their sense of strategic thinking and learn to play fairly and cooperatively. During long weeks of rainy day recesses, they need to keep their minds engaged to prevent their bodies from going crazy!
Without these sets, the children are restless after lunch and have a hard time focusing on their lessons and staying motivated. Please make their rainy recesses more engaging and our afternoon lessons more productive!
