My Students

My 4th grade classroom consists of a diverse group of learners. In one classroom, we have several different languages spoken, religious beliefs, and ethnicities. Several of my students are English Language Learners.

They are curious, always asking questions, and love discovering and learning through the books displayed in our classroom library.

My Project

This is a part two to the original "Storybook Walk". The original project funded several books to be displayed in a storybook walk outside the school promoting reading, family bonding, and exercise during the pandemic. We displayed all the books last year and are looking to add to our repertoire and expand the storybook walk through the campus.

Our first storybook walk was such a huge success that it caught the eye of the media!

Hicks Canyon's Storybook Walk was featured in the Orange County Register's newspaper. People from all over the city came to take their family on a walk through the path at the front of our school. Students & families enjoyed several books on their walks over the course of the school year.

The stands will help better protect the books from water and sun damage. The books chosen coincide with Mexican American history month and promote courage to all of our students who read the books.
