Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every day we start the morning chanting that we are persons of VALOR. Vision, academic achievement, love of learning, ownership, and respect. My students strive for the best education and we do all we can to encourage a well rounded education fueled by a love of learning!

At our school we have a variety of cultures, languages spoken, economic backgrounds, and more!

The students come to this particular school to gain an advantage over their peers in their neighborhood schools. My students are so hungry for learning and exploration. We are helping them to develop that love for knowledge that will keep them progressing through life. Here at our school we try to teach a deeper, intrinsic motivation for growth and students are give many opportunities to be leaders in our school and community.

My Project

We value literature in our school. There are so many good books for students to read and explore, however books that reinforce math are much more hard to find. We don't have many and what we do have are nearly always checked out and fought for among teachers. With more books to help explain and demonstrate math objectives students will gain not only reading practice but a wider knowledge of book genres, and a deeper understanding of math concepts.

Donating to help us buy these books will provide more resources for students this year and for many years to come.

It is important for students to have a wide-range of experience with books and subjects. Math is a difficult subject for many and so often feels abstract. With books to reinforce the curriculum many students may be able to better understand difficult or abstract math concepts.
