My Students
Our students are ages 4-11, in grades pre-k though 5th. We value education very highly here. The students in our school are thirsty for learning, and come to our school from literally around the neighborhood and around the city, some from around the world. We have a very diverse population, encompassing students whose families have immigrated from countries such as China, Pakistan, Israel, Russia, Haiti and Trinidad, just to name a few.
As the school's Library/Media specialist, it is my pleasure to teach every single student in the school.
This gives me the rare opportunity to work with the same students year after year.
My Project
Every time an early childhood class visits the Library/Media Center, we complete a project based off of the story we have read or the author we are studying.
Often, basic supplies in schools are not only the most necessary but the least available.
Having the requested pencils, glue sticks and construction paper will allow my students access to the supplies they need to interpret literature through artistic expression and create their story scenes.
The requested laminator will allow me to create reusable materials for my upper grade classes, such as study sheets, rubrics and research guidelines. Laminating these materials will cut down on waste, allowing the boys and girls to use dry erase markers instead of permanent ink. This will enable me to use them with multiple students over time, instead of having to reprint them for each new lesson.
