Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the first time you heard your recorded voice on a tape recorder? Oral language is important. Talking into a microphone can be nerve wrecking, but speaking directly to a microphone can improve ones own self-confidence by hearing and correcting mistakes.
My students are third graders in California.
Many are second language learners. They come from an economically disadvantaged neighborhood, but they are filled with curiosity and a desire to learn. They come to school everyday, full of questions. I truly look forward to working with them everyday. I know if you could meet them, you would look forward to working with them too.
My Project
I am requesting a "speaking and storage station" for my students. With these resources, the students will be able to record and save their oral language communication skills on a hard drive. They will read a selected passage into a microphone. This will allow students to improve their fluency skills. By using a simple computer program, they will be able to hear their mistakes and correct them.
With these resources, students will be able to read stories, save them as MP3s, hear and correct mistakes, as well as practice fluency.
Students will also have the opportunity to share their work with their peers.
