Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What stories do you remember the best from your childhood? They are always the ones that other people have read to you. My students need to be exposed to a variety of people reading to them but it would take forever for each of my students to listen to one story at time.
My second grade class currently of 15 students in a Title 1 school that is primarily of Hispanic culture.
They are just learning the love of reading while some read picture books some are starting chapter book stand joining in book clubs, reading the same books at the same time.
My Project
By using the listening center, I will be able to have students listen to the same story and be able to discuss their understanding of higher level books and vocabulary to increase their fluency and expanding higher level vocabulary making them better readers.
My students will be so surprised to receive a listening center to be able to hear voices become characters of the book they are reading.
By hearing a fluctuation of tone students will be able to stay engaged in what they are reading that helps them with increased comprehension of the story.
