Help me give my students paint, watercolors, oil pastels and other supplies needed to bring literature alive through art! The various art supplies listed will enable my students to express connections made to literature through various forms of art!

My Project

“Stories in Color” is an interdisciplinary project that merges visual arts with reading and writing instruction for 3rd-grade students. Through this initiative, students will explore narrative structure, character development, and theme by reading high-quality children's literature and expressing their comprehension and creativity through visual art. This project with paint, watercolors, oil pastels and other supplies aims to deepen literacy engagement, strengthen reading comprehension, and foster creativity and self-expression.

Many 3rd-grade students experience a decline in reading motivation, particularly those who struggle with traditional text-based assessments.

By incorporating visual arts into literature study, students—especially emergent bilinguals, neurodiverse learners, and those from underserved backgrounds—gain alternative entry points for understanding and connecting with stories. “Stories in Color” offers a culturally responsive, multi-modal learning experience that supports diverse learning styles and promotes equitable access to literacy development.
