Our school corporation is a rural district, trying to equip our students with the skills and experiences to be successful in our ever-changing world. I have the privilege to teach a multi-age second and third-grade class. I love teaching literacy, problem-solving, and thinking skills!
My second and third-graders are naturally curious and I want to help support them as they collaborate and learn creatively!
As their teacher, it is my goal to create opportunities to make them curious about the world around them. My goal is to empower them to ask questions and find answers. My students deserve it!
My Project
I want to provide book sets and individual books that help my students see themselves reflected in literature. These books are the mirrors. It is imperative to have a wide variety of text that allows students to see themselves reflected in stories.
Students should also have access to text that allows them to read about people who may live differently.
These texts are the windows: a peek into a world with differences and similarities! We will use these texts during guided reading and independent reading time. Students will choose texts and share what they learned by using technology; such as, Seesaw and Flipgrid!
