This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in Huntington Park, California.
My classroom supports students with moderate to severe autism and I currently have ten students.
Many of my students are also English language learners and most are non-verbal communicators.
The individual needs of my students vary greatly so it is important to have materials and activities that engage them all. They learn best through the use of pictures, manipulatives, and kinesthetic activities. My students enjoy hands-on materials and are eager to explore new objects.
My Project
Materials for this project will help our classroom routines run smoothly. Clipboards are essential information for our class since they will allow students to take their work with them to different areas in the room. A storyboard is also essential since our English Language Development and English Language Arts lessons often involve poems and felt board stories that help keep the students engaged. I am also requesting a storage item for our sensory table. This item will not only help things stay organized and ready to use but it help make the students more independent in cleaning up and keeping track of their materials.
