Storage Wars For Solo Music

My students need two new storage racks and 20 storage boxes for our library of solo sheet music. Currently, they are stored in boxes that are too small on shelves that are flimsy.

My Students

While we are incredibly fortunate to have a large library of sheet music, the way it is stored is not ideal. It will not last through the years unless something is done to ensure the proper care and handling of the paper. We need to replace the boxes and shelves with the proper equipment.

We are a four year public high school.

Our music department has over one hundred years of tradition behind it and we want to continue that for the next century. We often perform in large and small ensembles in school and the community. We offer Jazz Band, two levels of Concert Band, to levels of string orchestra and Marching/Pep band.

My Project

Our extensive music library is a mess. We have hundreds of pieces of individual solo and ensemble titles that are simply thrown together on shelves in a practice room. My goal is to make this amazing resource more user friendly and give students greater access to this library. By organizing it in a way that makes it possible to see exactly what it is you are viewing, students will have a greater chance at getting to the specific pieces they are searching for - without much guidance. Time is fleeting between classes (which is usually when they look for solos...). We are asking specifically for two high quality shelf units and 20 plastic storage boxes that are the correct dimensions for storing sheet music. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

While this may seem trivial to some, it is very important to us - our budget is tight, just like all budgets in schools are.

If we can avoid spending fund raising money on this particular project, then we can work on filling the boxes and shelves with more titles to build the library. Your assistance will go a long way towards helping us make better use of the space allotted to us for music storage in the classroom. Thanks from all of us!
