Whew! I just finished my 24th year of teaching. I come from a family of teachers. My mom, dad, and three of my five children are teachers, not to mention my two daughters-in-law! I am an ATPE teacher from East Texas. Teaching is a very rewarding job, one of the best in the world. I feel blessed to have this opportunity to serve as a teacher.
This year I am looping from 2nd to 3rd with my class.
This includes two special needs students. My students come from a socio economically disadvantaged district. Many of my students receive free breakfast and lunch - it is a luxury. Some, even receive food “backpacks” for the weekends. We also have a growing Hispanic population. But we are proud to say, through hard work and lots of care, our district has had a 100% graduation rate.
My students feel loved. Tolerance and acceptance is something that is fostered everyday. We live in a small rural community and continue to support former students through school activities such as sports, band and other district activities.
My Project
We have a lot of flexible seating in our room. We love to be able to move and study all around the room, but sometimes the things we need, don't move with us.
The storage rolling cart will help us keep our supplies close at hand.
This three tier cart will hold many needed items for our reading and math centers. The desk organizer, dish drainer rack, and memo holder will be used at our guided reading/math table to keep our highlighters, pens, folders and response notes close at hand.
We all learn in different and unique ways! These storage items will help us be the BEST students we can be!
More than half of students from low‑income households
