Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students from my school come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The majority of them are two to three grade levels behind in reading, writing, and mathematics and have struggled to catch up since middle school.
They come to my school hoping to become lawyers so that they can make a difference in the world around them.
In essence, they want to become contributing members of society, not just functioning ones. They want to learn and just need a little more support to make them better contenders in a competitive world.
My Project
I am asking for a storage cabinet and a storage locker to store classroom supplies such as books, folders, and project materials. I also want to give students a place where they can store their personal belongings, such devices and warm winter jackets. It is important for struggling students to have a clutter free environment so that they can focus on learning. At the same time, I want them to have materials that are easily accessible so that they can share in creating a classroom community where they have freedom and responsibility.
