This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Back of the seat pouches are a wonderful invention and they are very helpful in classrooms with just tables. As students get into the upper grades, the back pouches are overflowing and seem more of a tripping liability. Not only are the pouches overflowing, the students keep their backpacks and coats on the back of their chairs. It creates this feeling that students are temporarily popping into the classroom rather than calling it their home.
We need a locker storage system to open up the flow of the classroom.
This will keep everyone safe and organized. It will help students feel comfortable and more at home. It will be a good practice for executive functioning skills that our students need help with as they drop off their backpacks and coats in the morning and decide which items are most needed nearby.
By having a place for belongings, we will have greater focus on the fun activities we do throughout the day rather than being distracted by extraneous things around us.
