My Students
I believe every child deserves the opportunity for an excellent education, and I am proud to partner with my school, other educators, families, and community leaders to strive toward this goal. I teach in a high poverty school zone in which 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. These amazing students need additional support because most of them come from low-income single family households of which many have little to no support or resources. Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life, and eager to learn.
As the 2016 and 2019 Teacher of the Year as well as an alumni of Metro Atlanta Teach for America, I choose to continue to significantly impact the life trajectories of students in our region’s high-need communities.
My Project
After a year and a half of remote learning, I am anticipating a return to the classroom.
Therefore, I am requesting storage bins for the 2021-2022 school year for my socially distanced classroom.
Learning during a pandemic has and continues to present a variety of challenges. One of them being "space." In order to maintain our distance, many of our usual storage solutions will have to be revised. Students will be unable to store supplies in the common areas we are used to using.
With the storage bins, students will be able to keep their supplies separate from one another.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
