My Students
I teach algebra and geometry to ninth and tenth grade students in a small, rural school district. Many students come from lower economic backgrounds and some qualify for free and reduced lunches. Most students are well behaved and parents are supportive of education. Each class has a few students with special needs. People take care of the school and each other.
I have been collecting sets of classroom supplies for my students to use, but need an efficient way for students to access them.
Not all kids are able to afford basic supplies, so I try to help them whenever possible.
My Project
Over the years, I have been collecting sets of basic supplies for my students to use in the classroom. Several kids do not come to class prepared and this creates an issue when they do not have what they need. Drawing attention to this causes embarrassment when the cost of the items is the prohibiting factor.
I'd like storage baskets for my students who need to borrow a calculator, pencils, highlighters ,dry erase markers or some other staple of math class.
Currently, these items are not easily accessible to students and some are hesitant to ask because they know they should own them.
