Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Please help us stop bullying! There is a bullying problem in our school. Some of our students are bullies in the classroom and on the yard. Some of them are older and others are younger. Yes! We have bullies in kindergarten also!
I work in a Title I school located in the neighborhood where I grew up.
Most of my students come from low income families and are faced with drugs and violence on the streets near their homes and inside their apartment buildings. My kindergarteners are very eager and active students full of energy.
My Project
It is crucial that we focus on developing good values such as making good decisions, respect, responsibility and caring in our classroom. I will use the book "Bullying in Schools" and the bully-proof teaching kit to guide my instruction against bullying. I will use the picture books as read alouds, and as springboards to discuss what bullying is, why people bully, and how my students can stop bullying.
My students will learn valuable skills in bully prevention that will help them stop bullying in the classroom, out on the yard, and in the cafeteria. Ultimately, they can use the skills outside of school, and as they grow older. My students will use the art material to demonstrate what they have learned by creating drawings, picture stories and posters.
By donating to our project, you will help me develop an anti-bullying program in my classroom.
Your contribution will help my students learn about making good decisions, being respectful, being responsible and becoming caring individuals.
