My Project
My middle school 7th and 8th graders have been waiting a long time to be able to make movies in my classroom. For many of them, their older sibling has come through my class and been able to create a stop motion movie. Unfortunately, that had to stop a few years ago, especially with the pandemic. Plus, we are now an EL school, and I have to design projects around curriculum they learn in general ed. One module is about food choices.
LEGO stop motion is a huge trend right now, especially LEGO made into food.
I would like 7th and 8th graders to take the stop motion unit they know about and be able to use LEGO to make movies about food choices, fulfilling their wish to make the movies, but also meeting the requirements set forth by the school. I have a few old point and shoot cameras, so adding 2 more would help immensely. Plus, we need a bunch of LEGO bricks, since I've never done a LEGO stop motion lesson. The students will be thrilled if we get funded, as they already think we can't make the movies this year. It will be a lovely surprise.
