My Project
I am the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) teacher to 720 stupendous students. This is the third year that the school has had a STEM class, so I am still in the process of acquiring many of the materials needed for our STEM activities. This project would support the technology component of STEM.
Students will be using the requested materials in order to create STEM projects that supplement what they are learning in reading, math, science, and social studies.
The tablet holders, Lego minifigures, and Squishy Circuit components will be used by the students in order to create stop motion animation videos. Stop motion animation is a filming technique in which an object, such as a Lego minifigure, is repeatedly adjusted and photographed to simulate movement. Instead of drawing illustrations for narratives that the students have written, they will be using stop motion animation to create a visual representation of their writings. In addition, students will also use this film making technique to create videos which will summarize a text they they have read while demonstrating their comprehension of the text.
