My Project
As I enter my second year teaching, I have made many thoughtful choices to give my students the best possible learning environment. At the beginning of last year, I chose to get rid of my personal teacher desk in my classroom so I could optimize the space in the room to best support my student's learning experience. I wanted my students to have enough room for flexible seating, a place for a rug for whole class meetings, and grouped seating for small group instruction. I wanted them to have all of this without having to struggle to get in and out of seats when transitioning.
To help with creating this environment, I received a kidney table over the summer.
I am extremely grateful that it was funded through DonorsChoose and I am excited to utilize it, not only as my own personal desk, but for small group instruction during math and literacy centers.
However, as I began to set my classroom up for the year, I noticed regular chairs are still taking up more space than I would like. To go along with my kidney table, I would love some stools that are easy to store under the table while not in use, stackable, and don’t take up the additional space that the chairs in my already small classroom take up. By receiving these stools, I would also be able to donate the extra chairs in my room to other classrooms in my building that may need additional seating for a more flexible environment. I know these stools would really enhance my 3rd grade ICT learning environment!
