My Project
My students attend a public Pre-K through 8th grade Montessori school in Cleveland, Ohio. Our school is comprised of students from all over our city, which has one of the highest poverty rates in the nation. Our Montessori students follow a child-centered approach to develop each child physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Students learn in multi-age classrooms and remain with the same teacher for several years. My classroom is a STEAM Lab, where each student spends at least 8 weeks using technology and other building materials to create.
Over 450 students use our STEAM Lab and consume lab materials.
We need to stock and replenish the lab so that we are ready for the fall semester. We've made lots of jewelry this year and the students have requested more jewelry making tools, glue, and beads to create jewelry next year. This has become one of their favorite activities. We also need ink for our printer and labels for our sticker printer. We love printing our Canva designs to share during school events. We are out of ink for our lab printer and need more card stock to make earring cards and posters.
Our middle school really enjoyed working with EL wire and requested more batteries, too so we can make more projects. Our black Sharpies need replenished from frequent use, and we are out of our favorite glow-in-the-dark filament for our 3D printer. And finally, our crocheting students requested stitch markers to mark the beginning of their rows. I order constantly from Amazon and having these items on hand will help me greatly reduce the cost of school supplies for the STEAM Lab.
