My students need basic school supplies as we enter the second half of the year. We go to school year-round, so we've been in school since July, and our supplies are running low.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Halleck's classroom raised $371

My Students
My students are in the 5th and 6th grade at an urban magnet school. I teach math and science to the 5th graders and math to the 6th graders. They come from a wide variety of towns and cities in the area, but many are from urban settings. My students enjoy tackling challenges and having (friendly) competitions (both in the classroom and on the athletic fields). They are creative and innovative. They have great senses of humor and love all things musical! They pride themselves on exhibiting our school-wide learner expectations both in and out of the classroom.
Our school is a college preparatory school, meaning we work to set our students up to be successful in college.
All our seniors have been accepted to a four-year college of their choice since the school opened. We start preparing our students in elementary school, but I work hard to make learning engaging and fun. Our school is also a social justice school, meaning we expose and educate our students about issues in their communities, the country, and the world. We support our students in taking action, volunteering, and finding their voice to make the world a better place.
My Project
I try to always have extra pencils, markers, and erasers on hand for my students that cannot afford their own, but it can get expensive. We were well stocked at the beginning of the year, but our markers are starting to dry up, our pencil bin is running low, and our notebooks are filled with mathematical thinking and reflection.
These supplies will act as communal classroom materials for the 90 or so students that pass through my class every day.
These are items we use on a daily basis and are vital to the day-to-day routine in the classroom. With school budgets being cut, teachers find more and more of their paychecks going towards classroom materials.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
