Our school has an enrollment of more than 1,500 students of whom 34% are economically disadvantaged. We have a balance of 52% males and 48% females with our minority population at 52%. We have 75% of our students on free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school is in a suburban area.
It was built in 1970 and has a strong school spirit and ties to the community. Our school has an unusual percentage of teachers who graduated from here and returned later to teach. I jokingly warn the new ninth graders about drinking the water! Our school community is a close-knit group that looks out for each other. Thank you for considering my project for funding to help us.
My Project
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my project. I would like to provide some supplies in my classroom for my students to use as we progress through the school year. I have selected pens, pencils, papers, folders and some supplies to clean their computers.
Many students do not have the supplies at home to be successful in school, but by donating to this project there will be supplies in the classroom for them to access and use, even take to other classes with them.
I will set up a file cabinet drawer that they can open and discreetly "shop" from for the day. I also provide tissue, band aids and cleaner for their glasses. Thank you for considering my project! :)
