Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in grades nine through twelve. We are a small, public school tucked away in the mountains. My students struggle with their emotions due to varying disabilities.
We practice Community Based Instruction (CBI).
CBI is educational instruction in naturally occurring community environments providing students real-life experiences. My students need intensive instruction in functional and daily living skills. We run a school-wide coffee shop where employability skills are learned through actual daily sales. They are responsible for completing their biweekly time cards.
My Project
These sticker books and sensory sand will stock our classroom store and give my students the motivation to earn classroom cash.
My students earn classroom cash as incentives and for rewards.
They earn classroom cash by working in our schools' coffee shop.
They can also earn money by completing assignments, participating in activities and exhibiting positive behaviors. The sensory sand will be on sale in mini-sandwich bags and will go for $20 in classroom cash.
The sticker books will sell for $10 each.
Having a stocked store with preferred items is the perfect motivator to keep my kids on track.
