Stimulating Science for all Students

My students need science materials that are stimulating, such as activities for our interactive white board and games to help them learn and review science concepts.

My Students

Teaching 21st Century students means integrating technology. Engaging students with an interactive white board is the perfect resource for building knowledge prior to their hands-on activities. Additionally, games bring an element of excitement to review time. Help make science stimulating!

The students, 5th graders, that will be using these science materials are in their final year of elementary school.

As their teacher, I am all about creating memorable moments at school, since they may not have the opportunity at home. Many of them have just been united with one of their parents after being released from prison for murder or drug convictions, while another parent still resides there. Some others take care of younger siblings, while a single parent works to make a minimal income. Many students have responsibilities beyond what most can imagine, and I would like to make school a time for them to just be kids. The school free/reduce lunch rate is 90% and breakfast is a benefit to every student to ensure learning. Despite the circumstances, our classroom is a "no excuses" environment in which everyone is expected to learn and do their very best.

My Project

Remember when the teacher got up in front of the room and talked and talked...those days are over! With an interactive whiteboard, the students will be able to manipulate the lesson and because it is technology, engagement will be constant. The interactive whiteboard lessons will lead into a hands-on activity or experiment for the students. Instead of the "boring worksheet" for a review, I will utilize the Bingo games.

Teaching 5th grade concepts are important; however, preparing them for middle and high school is crucial for future success, and I will be able to do that with these materials.

Sparking in interest in a science career would be a bonus. Above all, the students will be engaged and learning science concepts that can be used throughout their lifetime.
