This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hard-working 5th and 6th grade students who are eager to ask questions and love to learn. The majority of my students come from low-income backgrounds where resources are very limited at home. The community where they are living is an area where gang activity and crime are present.
My students are creative, intelligent, and have great hopes for their future.
Many of my students are English language learners. They are getting prepared for the 21st century by using technology as part of their learning.
My Project
Help my future students receive a digital and hard copy of Scholastic Storyworks and Scholastic News to get inspired to read more. These stories would engage my 5th and 6th graders to bring important and current news stories into the classroom. Every issue of these magazines features grade level informational texts that will enhance my instruction in the classroom. They are vivid and full of color and packed with information that will build on knowledge and skills in any learning environment. My students would have access to engaging articles and stories as well as educational videos and standards-based activities.
