This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from low to moderate income families of Hispanic backgrounds and are bilingual, Spanish being their native language. I have had 23 to 25 kindergarten students in my class. For several of them, this is their first year in school. While several of them experienced learning virtually for the ending of the 2019/20 school year and Summer School, others will experience it for the first time as the 2020/21 School Year begins. They are creative and unique individuals that deserve everything that will support their academic journey and make it enjoyable. Pre-K and Kindergarten provide the foundation that they will need for the rest of their academic life. They are eager to learn and show what they have learned!!
My Project
One of the items chosen will provide students with a specific notebook for Reading and Phonics assignments. I will section off the notebook before delivering it to students safely. They will use their notebook at home to fulfill their Reading and Phonics assignments. The storage trays will be assigned to students in order for them to store their school supplies if and when they return to the classroom. Furthermore, the Number Talk Daily Activities will be used virtually in order to set the foundation for number discourse. As I begin to prepare for this school year, a lot of adjustments need to be kept in mind; the main one being maintaining everyone's safety. Education will continue and everyone will continue to learn under these new circumstances.
