My Project
I’ve been gradually building up the number of Orff instruments in my classroom, working towards a 1:1 ratio, though we’re currently at 2:1. To create the best learning environment possible for my students, I have my younger ones double up on keyboard instruments whenever I can. They love playing so much that they actually prefer sharing over waiting for a turn.
Adding percussion mallets to our collection will let my students play the larger instruments with both hands, alternating left and right, instead of just using their dominant hand.
This will help improve their coordination and give them a chance to work on their technique in a more well-rounded way.
The mallets will also encourage my young students to work on collaboration and communication skills as they tackle this new challenge and create music together.
