Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a city where crime rates are high and there is a 98% poverty rate. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences that any other student is able to have.
Although I may not be able to control their home lives, I can certainly control their experience during the school day.
By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My students, although only 3 and 4 years old are hard workers, and they deserve to come to school and feel safe and loved, and I'm happy to be the one who is able to give them that.
My Project
Having a Store-It-All Teaching Center will be very helpful in our classroom. Having books, learning materials, games, folders and books, bin activities, markers and magnets in a close, organized fashion will help children complete tasks easier.
A developed sense of independence is very important to a growing child, and this teaching center will help them achieve that.
Readily accessible materials are crucial in learning, and having everything together will be very helpful.
"Write your name with marker, then match the letters with the magnets" will be extremely easier for a child to complete since all the materials are together. "Put away your folder and take out a bin activity" will be a smoother transition for a child with only a 2-step direction.
