This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a new high school counselor who is excited to help teens with their mental health needs. I have this great space with tons of potential and would love your help to make it inviting for students.

My students deserve a space that is welcoming and gives them a sense of belonging.

I was fortunate enough to inherit a comfy couch for students to sit on during sessions but I do not have other supplies for student use, supplies to help keep me organized, or decorative items to make the space inviting.

The laminator and pouches will be used to protect printable posters that will have affirming, motivational messages to inspire my students. The lamp will give soft lighting instead of the harsh fluorescent lighting present in the rest of the building. The area rug will make the space feel more cozy. The organizer will help me focus less on where everything is and more on what matters most- my students. Snacks are great for when students come to my office hungry or need a treat. The other odds and ends will be used in combination with things I will bring to my office from home like string lights, artwork, and coloring books.
