This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine wanting to learn about something new and discovering that the text was too difficult for you. This is a challenge my students face every day since the reading levels in my classroom range dramatically.
My students are English language learners that are socioeconomically disadvantaged.
My students count on me to provide them with all the tools they need to learn since many cannot afford to buy books. Most do not have transportation available to them to get to a local library so reading materials made available to them in my classroom is what they count on.
My Project
I'm requesting a leveled nonfiction class library for my students so I can provide high interest reading materials for everyone regardless of their reading level. The library I am requesting includes 80 books accommodating five different reading levels. I'm also asking for a storage rack and easy check out pocket chart to keep the library organized for years to come. This library is essential for my students since they are required to be able to read and comprehend nonfiction text. By providing these books, all my students will be able to read about a topic at their specific reading level and participate in a discussion about their particular topic. This will help create confident readers and foster a love for reading.
Please consider donating to my project.
I look forward to seeing the looks on my students' faces when they see the new books arrive in the classroom. This gift will not only impact my students this year, but will continue to benefit many many students in the future.
