Our students are small, but mighty coming from Milan, Indiana, the home of the 1954 Milan Indians memorialized in the movie, Hoosiers. Although they come from a small, rural farming community, they dream big in learning 21st century skills about programming and computer science. Unfortunately opportunities and funding is limited in this small, rural town. Students come from low-income households and limited equity in wifi access.
This is where our school comes into play.
It is the place where they can aspire to dream big. Our students want to learn about computer science and programming. The foundation has been laid by our administration in investing in bandwidth to ensure access to reliable wifi.
My Project
It's time to build confidence with creativity in my STEM focused classroom. I have a group of students that lead our school as digital leaders. They are digitally creative, but lack the artistic skills to create with the supplies we have in our school. We need a Cricut, which is an electric die-cut machine.
A Cricut connects to a computer to cut out virtually any shape you can think of or create.
This will allow my digital focused students to bring out their creative side. Their designs will become a reality in poster making, door decorating, t-shirt designs, and STEM focused projects.
It's time for these students usually undervalued in the creativity department by their peers to have the opportunity to shine.
