My Students
As a veteran teacher at a Title I/iZone school located in a low-income/high-poverty community, I am well aware of the many challenges that my students face every day, both in and outside of the classroom. I am also aware of their enthusiasm for learning, their tremendous potential for high achievement, and their brilliant creativity.
My students shine brightest when they work creatively and collaboratively.
They demonstrate great pride in their work, celebrating their growth and improvement while challenging themselves and each other to exceed expectations.
My Project
Last year my wonderful Music & Media students began developing their communication skills and exploring expressiveness through classroom presentations and live performances. In addition to successful spoken word and songwriting projects, my students expressed a strong interest in creating podcasts and school news broadcasts. After some class discussions and research, my returning students and I decided that we should turn one of our classroom desktop computers into a dedicated recording and production station. The Yeti Studio All-In-One Vocal Recording System is the perfect choice for this initiative.
The Yeti microphone, along with the accompanying recording software, will provide my students with the opportunity to express themselves creatively while creating and delivering content for our school news program.
The microphone can even be taken with us on field trips and connected to a laptop or tablet so our "school ambassadors" can capture quality audio for their news reports. So not only will we be able to create a new, powerful media station in the classroom, but we will also be equipped with a resource that will help students explore their community and discover the strength of their voices. We will be extremely grateful to our donors for helping us acquire this exciting new resource!
