Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach first grade ICT at a Title I school. This is the first year that I am working with ICT students and notice that they need a more stable, supportive and positive learning environment. My students love to learn and they love to come to school because it gives them the consistency that they need in their lives. I work with students that are diagnosed with disorders like ADD/ADHD, Autism, Emotional disorders and learning disabilities. It is crucial that we have things that will help foster the calm and serene environment that they seek in the classroom so that they can learn and grow throughout the school year.

My Project

My students are great! They need a few things to help make learning easier and more exciting. These individual CD players and fiction/non fiction books with CDs will help give them a listening center to be proud of. They will be able to go to the center and listen to great stories and learn great facts and ideas throughout the school year.

Do you remember how you felt when you had a book read to you?

Do you like listening to stories being read? Well, my students do. Now they just need the CD players and CDs to help make that happen for them. They will learn fluency, pitch, main idea, sequencing, comprehension and basic concepts of print skills that are crucial at this age.

Please help my students this holiday season. They deserve to have everything they need to make their learning fun and exciting.
