Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We believe that every student, no matter what, should have the chance at college success. The students at our school are buoyed up by a community of educators with the passion to ensure success. We are located in the middle of a diverse, working class neighborhood in Hayward.
This year, we opened a brand new middle school on our campus.
Over the next three years, we will grow into a 6th-12th college bound community of innovators, creative thinkers, athletes, and change makers.
My Project
Students entering middle school are all over the place when it comes to their reading skills. Some read at high school level already, while others struggle. Many of our students are grade levels behind where they need to be. We're excited to build classroom libraries and promote independent reading within our new middle school. Encouraging students to read isn’t rocket science, but it takes a few important ingredients: strong and committed teachers, kind and curious students, and lots of good books. That's where you come in! We can't wait to get new titles into our empty bookshelves so that students can start perusing!
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
