"Untapped potential is the difference between where a person is now and where he or she can be." -Bo Bennett
My students are enthusiastic learners with a ton of potential, but we need resources to expand our thinking!
We are low-income, rural area with limited exposure to experiences to help these students develop into who they can be. I want to expose these children to STEM activities to bring another option to the future. My students do not have access to science and technology museums that offer hands-on STEM related activities. It is exciting to have this opportunity in the classroom and to challenge them to experiment, test and troubleshoot-these are skills they need to become productive members of society.
My Project
Early exposure to STEM projects will teach my students how to think critically and solve problems which are two skills that spill over into everyday life. The students will also collaborate with others and work together to build and create. STEM naturally excites students and they become fascinated with learning. Careers in science, technology, engineering and math will increase over the next decade and it is crucial that students become exposed and interested at an early age. As an educator it is my responsibility to bring to the classroom as many exciting learning opportunities as possible and this STEM bundle for grades 4-5 will reach across all races and genders.
