My Students

I am a 2nd grade teacher in a project-based learning school that is on the cutting edge of technology and has a strong arts program. Our school of 420 students range from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Students come to us from 10 different counties and various backgrounds which adds to the diversity of our school.

Our students are taught through a project-based learning with real-world connections and a classical education that showcases their learning 3 times a year through our Exhibition Nights.

It is my plan to provide my students with the materials they need to enrich their learning and personal lives.

My students are very active, super inquisitive and always eager to learn. They are constantly on the move, they love books and thrive off of lots of positive reinforcement and attention. My students know as soon as they come in to our classroom, the focus is on their potential as a member of our class, our school and their community.

My Project

The upcoming year will be my second year in a four year charter school. My school is a project based learning school that also concentrates on STEAM. My students are excited to be in school and learn but struggle to connect lessons with things they have not personally experienced. While working hands on during Science lessons and activities helps to keep students engaged, Scholastic News is an appealing way to visually expose students to lessons we are learning about.

Scholastic News magazines will allow for students to have a hands on resource they can take home and extend their learning.

The addition of the digital issues will cover the technology the so many students are familiar with. I feel the magazine would give my students a much needed boost of in their STEAM lessons.
