My Project
In my 8th grade Georgia Studies classroom, we don't just study history—we live it, code it, and create it. My students are primarily from minority backgrounds, full of energy, creativity, and untapped potential. They deserve meaningful access to STEM tools that will not only deepen their understanding of Georgia’s rich past but also prepare them for the innovative future ahead.
With your support, I hope to bring in desktop computers, iPads, Makey Makey kits, a Dash robot, and an Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 printer to transform how we study Georgia’s history.
The desktop computers will serve as our central station for research, video editing, and podcast production. Students will create digital documentaries, timelines, and voiceovers for historical reenactments.
Using Makey Makey kits, students will create interactive maps and projects—like triggering sounds about key Civil War battles when pressing regions on a handmade Georgia map. It’s history, coding, and engineering in one. iPads will give students flexible access to apps like iMovie, Book Creator, and augmented reality tools. They’ll design eBooks, record green-screen news segments about historic events, and explore Georgia landmarks in 3D. The Dash robot will bring history to life through code. Students will program Dash to travel across maps, simulate historical trade routes, or reenact pivotal events like the Trail of Tears.
The Epson EcoTank ET-8550 printer will allow us to print high-quality maps, photos, brochures, and student-created museum exhibits. With this all-in-one device, students can showcase their work in vivid detail—transforming our classroom into a gallery of historical exploration.
This project blends social studies, literacy, and STEM while empowering my students to be creators, problem-solvers, and storytellers. It gives underrepresented students access to tools that build both knowledge and confidence.
