At my school we pride ourselves on being "The Best Between Heaven and Earth". My students play a special part on how I would like them to create a learning environment just for them. I recently became the science/social studies teacher for the fourth grade and I want to bring a lot of excitement to my students this year by creating a STEM classroom. STEM to some is a new topic but I know my students will benefit from these experiences. They are always eager to learn and with a STEM classroom they will exceed the standards with hands-on learning opportunities. My classroom consists of African-Americans and Hispanic students who have been underrepresented in the pursuit of STEM careers and I want to help close their achievement gap.
My Project
The tablets will be used to download and learn coding. These coding apps are not downloadable on the laptops currently used at our school. The learning of coding will be an eye opening experience for the students on what goes on to design programs.
The skill of coding will be valuable to any person entering the 21st century job opportunity.
Moving students for college and career readiness is imperative to sustain America's future job force. Making the shift to STEM, with coding practices will make my students more marketable and transform my classroom to an odyssey of opportunity and fun.
