This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students rock! I teach 25 active 5 years old at a Title 1 school, where over 95% of my students are on free or reduced lunch.
In spite of the hardships my students may face, they arrive to my classroom everyday with a smile on their face and ready to learn.
Our school serves students from a low income and high poverty area. My students deal with challenges in the classroom and at home. When a child walks into my classroom, I want them to feel special and forget any hardships they may be going through.
My Project
My students need a STEM science kit to explore science! At 5 years old, my students are curious about the world around them. They want to know how and why things work the way they do. With this STEM kit they will be able to do just that!! It comes with over 10 different experiments which they will be able to use and learn all about science!
My students are our future engineers!
These resources will help my students develop thinking skills, and learn how to collaborate with other classmates.
My students also need Math learning centers, with these centers they will be able to explore and learn all about numbers, addition, subtraction, and patterns. Having these center activities will allow my students to work on the skills that they need reinforcement in. They also need ten frames, pattern blocks activity cards, counters, and write and wipe pockets. With these manipulatives I will be able to make other center activities for them to enhance their knowledge in mathematics. I will be able to make these center activities for them with printer toner.
Lastly, a kindergarten classroom can never have too many crayons; we use crayons throughout the day for all subject areas!
