Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing! I work in a school where 93% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. A typical day in my classroom is filled with excitement about learning and exploring.

My students are always striving to achieve even when they face hardships outside of school.

Their love for learning is what will help them to become successful men and women of the future! I am excited to help them get on their way.

My Project

My students will use their building blocks, Legos, Brickyard Building blocks, Brain Flakes, and other manipulatives in both science and math. They will be able to conduct hands-on science experiments on their own on a daily basis while using the Experiment of the Week Science Lab. They will also use the manipulatives during daily guided math and independent math centers. They will develop their own strategies for solving problems, foster their articulation about a problem, and allow students to work independently and cooperatively while using STEM sets. My students will also explore real world challenges that will ask them to plan, build and test their unique designs that integrates STEM with literacy when using the STEM bundle.

My goal is for my students to have the opportunity to investigate, explore, build, create, and experiment with the proper, age appropriate, manipulatives.

It will empower my girls so they know they can do anything also and not be limited due to gender as they have been brought up this far. It will help all my kids know that can feel proud and in turn be able to vocalize and express not only how they invented something, but they will take this zest for ownership home and share it with their family.
