Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 21st Century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 29 curious, fourth-grade scientists in a small, Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn, and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children, that they have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
With new Science Standards, it is necessary to stay up to date on the latest teaching strategies and techniques, especially with the emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) across the curriculum. Attending this conference will help me acquire practical and doable strategies for enhancing my existing lessons and discover numerous ways to actively engage my student in a range of hands-on activities that incorporate all four STEM disciplines.
I am a life-long learner!
By going to this conference, I will enhance my ability to create meaningful ways to implement project-based learning activities and encourage myself and my students to be active and innovative participants in inquiry-based classroom learning.
