Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting STEM hands-on project materials in order to help my students become high level critical thinkers. Science is an integral part of every school's curriculum. The magnetic builders master set will allow multiple students to work together to build 3-D construction structures by connecting the rods, balls, and corner pieces to build in any direction! The customizable balloon powered cars will introduce the students to early STEM concepts as they creatively make their own cars. The gears set will allow the students to build towers of robots with gears, cranes, and springs. Students will also have the opportunity to experiment with magnetism as they use the bar, ring, horseshoe, and other magnets.
These high quality materials will benefit my very curious and imaginative second grade English Language Learner students.
Over 80% of my students are ELLs, and these resources will allow them to enhance their engagement with learning science and technology.
These materials will enable the students to collaboratively work together, help with their speaking and listening skills, and develop flexibility with their thinking.
