Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 6th grade Science, and next year I will be teaching 4 rotations! I am so excited to introduce them to the 6th grade science standards. I would love to implement more STEM activities into our daily lessons. We have an amazing curriculum but I would love to add more interactive activities.
These materials will allow for my students to interact with one another using STEM methods, and also adding to their labs by having access to actual specimens.
The specimen slides are for us to use with the microscopes that I already have, but unfortunately we do not have any slides. I would also love to have the STEM kits to practice things such as building, inertia, collaboration, working through their different ideas with their peers, force and motion and teamwork. STEM also allows them to critically think and develop their language skills. These activities would provide fun and interactive ways for us to learn about those standards. They will also be able to work collaboratively on these activities.
The totes are for storing the materials safely in our classroom, and all the other materials will be used directly in class throughout our lesson.
