My Students
This year my students will be lucky enough to have TWO teachers. I will be teaching my homeroom and another room Math with a bit of Science. I will be encompassing various STEM lessons within the core curriculum. I hope to make math, as well as science fun through new activities.
My school is in a low-income area with a high ESOL population.
I specifically teach 2nd grade with ESOL students who are beginners, Special Ed students who don't know their numbers, and Regular Ed students on various math levels from Kindergarten level to 3rd grade. All of my students want to learn.
My Project
We have undertaken the STEM theory in our school. With these new materials, my teaching, and my students learning will allow us to become better Scientists, Engineers and Mathematicians through Technology.
The hands on learning, using these materials and applying them to practical applications, will increase the enjoyment of learning and my own teaching within my classroom.
This project will make a difference to the second graders I will teach, because it will help engage them in their learning.
They will be able to make connections using real lifelike materials enhance mathematics and science, to the real world. I feel this project will allow my students to build on previous knowledge, and gain knowledge independently.
