My Students
Our Title 1 Beacon School is full of diverse students. All of our students are economically disadvantaged and live in poverty, but they have not let their circumstances define who they are. Although they face challenges everyday, they come to school with learning in mind and are determined to meet the high expectations set by their teachers.
Teachers are constantly challenged on how to meet the diverse learning needs, but integration of technology and STEM activities allows students to come out as winners everyday because learning is personalized just for them.
My Project
The Sphero iPad app will pique their interest to think logically, solve problems using basic coding and complete math challenges. Dash the Robot will have students on the move as they learn to navigate using coding challenge cards to complete obstacle courses and race to the finish games. Botely offers hours of continuous fun as students learn entry level coding skills to navigate him around the room using mazes. And if that wasn't enough engagement, students can use the Coji Robot to code with Emojis!
These STEM resources will provide essential background knowledge to increase their thinking skills and challenging them to take risks.
With these items, it's a one stop STEMtastic classroom in the making!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
